Dogarazzi: Week 37

Despite the layer of frost on my windshield this morning, we had a lovely, almost-springlike weekend. The mid-Atlantic region is in this strange limbo state of slightly warmer weather but with none of the deadening humidity that is advancing inexorably toward us, so I am in my prime. Jeans and a long-sleeved layer (t-shirt, jacket, sweater) comprise my ideal wardrobe, so it has been nice to shed the heavier layers. I’m savoring it while I can, before the summer heat comes all too soon and wallops me.

On Sunday, while I went to the grocery store, JG tethered Ted to a tree in the back yard while he took care of some yard work. Ted ambled around on his leash , sniffing about, and munching kibble out of his food dish. Later, I took him for his afternoon walk around the neighborhood, and he investigated all of the spring sights under a bright blue sky and warm sunshine.

Dogarazzi: Week 37

After he put away the shovels, rolled the grill out the shed, and whatnot, JG reinstated the white flags of the invisible fence. Ted made progress when he was trained on it last year, but then the colder weather came, and we were relegated to the indoors. This summer, JG is determined that Ted will be able to romp around in the back yard without escape. His goal is that he could grill out on the patio, and Ted could just follow him in and out of the house, instead of one of us being occupied by keeping the dog occupied. We’ll see how it goes.

Aww. Ted. He will be fine. Just make sure you have the shock level turned down low enough! Then he can roam free and poop all over.

In March I had to put my dog down and I’m still really sad about it. While I’ve decided not to get another dog for a while — probably a few years — I did think of getting a Westie because they’re so f’n cute, yours included.

You can submit Ted’s pictures (great name for a dog, btw) to Friday Arkives where there are lots of dogs, cats, and other creatures pictured. It’s a warm and fuzzy Friday.

PS Got to you from Tannenbaum.

I am loving the weather right now–I got to bring out my khaki trench again and wear tanks & tees w/ jackets; it’s fabulous!
We love our Invisible Fence–good luck with the training!

What a cutie! I wish I had known about this, I would love to participate with my dogs. I have two mini schnauzers.

Something about a white dog on green grass just melts my heart every time. It’s such a pretty color combination — and the adorable dog doesn’t hurt, either!
