Let me get this straight

On New Year’s Day, JG was talking to Ted about how we were going to “make breakfast and then watch a football game and have lunch and watch another football game and then people are coming over for the Rose Bowl, and then there’s another game after that!”

I held up my hand.  “Hold on a second. How many football games are you watching?”

“Four.”

“And when is the first one on?”

“11am.”

“So when do I get to watch the Rose Bowl Parade?”

“You want to watch the parade?”

“Let me get this straight.  You mean to tell me that you get four football games and I get zero parade?!”

“Uh, you can watch the parade.”

Thanks, honey.

That afternoon, our friends came over to watch Penn State play in the Rose Bowl, and as is our custom, we had an alarming amount of food.  I set up a big slow cooker of meatballs for sandwiches and baked brownies, and JG prepped a spinach dip, stuffed mushrooms, pigs-in-a-blanket, and pizza rolls to toss into the oven as demand dictated.  All of this, plus the food our friends volunteered to bring, went onto the table that I covered with a white tablecloth and blue napkins, and everyone grazed during the game.

Ted was affectionate and subdued with all of our guests (someone laughingly accused us of sedating him), our food estimates turned out to be pretty accurate, and everyone had a good time.  The only down side of the game was the disappointing loss — as if I needed another reason to dislike USC!  Argh.

I like that JG outlines the plan for the day to Ted and not you. Because obviously Ted won’t complain about missing the parade!

That still sounds like an unacceptable football game to parade ratio for my liking, but if there was good food involved, I could probably be swayed.

I was really bummed that Penn State didn’t win, too! But I was stuck at work watching most of it so it was VERY unenjoyable!

Can you give me your recipe for crockpot meatballs? We are having a SuperBowl party and I think these would be good thing to make. Thanks!

Ugh! The Rose Bowl was SUCH a disappointment to me. I love PSU.
