About

RA
I love words. I strive for precise language, lament the state of the abused apostrophe, and relish learning new words. My background is in technical writing, so my day job consists of writing and editing medical publications. By night, I do my best to write and edit insightful, entertaining entries in these parts. E-mails about typos are greatly appreciated, even though I kick myself for missing mistakes. I write almost exactly how I talk.

“RA,” pronounced as the initials, has been my main nickname for ten years. My husband, JG, is a high-school math teacher, and we’ve lived in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, since October 2005. In July 2007, we adopted our Westie puppy, Ted.

In my spare time, I love to read, take pictures, and rock-climb. A list of one hundred things about me is available for interested parties.

This Site
I started Definitely RA in June 2006, mainly for the purpose of a writing exercise for myself. I wanted to see if I could write clearly about my life and how I felt about it, that’s all. The site was never intended to be a secret; I figured that if people found it in their travels, it was fine with me. I was stunned to receive my first comment.

The original site was powered by Blogger and the free interface was a great way for me to get introduced to the whole set-up. In June 2007, I made the switch to my very own domain as a way of commemorating my one-year blogiversary. I applied the current theme in January 2008.
