About

Me
“RA,” pronounced as the initials, has been my main nickname for ten years. I am a word nerd. I strive for precise language, lament the state of the abused apostrophe, and relish learning new vocabulary. For a living, I write and edit medical publications, in addition to freelance projects on the side. In these parts, I do my best to write and edit insightful, entertaining entries. I write almost exactly how I talk. In my spare time, I love to read, take pictures, and bake.

My husband, JG, is a high-school math teacher, and we’ve lived in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, since October 2005. In July 2007, we adopted our Westie puppy, Ted.

I can also be found on Flickr, Goodreads, or via e-mail.

This Site
I started Definitely RA in June 2006, mainly for the purpose of a writing exercise for myself. I wanted to see if I could write clearly about my life and how I felt about it, that’s all. The site was never intended to be a secret; I figured that if people found it in their travels, it was fine with me. I was stunned to receive my first comment.

The original site was powered by Blogger and the free interface was a great way for me to get introduced to the whole set-up. In June 2007, I made the switch to my very own domain as a way of commemorating my one-year blogiversary. I applied the current theme in January 2008.
